The city of Forest Park, GA face many dire conditions that contribute to immense poverty including low academic achievement, high unemployment, and extremely low family income levels.

  • Only 66.2% of residents have completed high school vs. 81.7% for Clayton County and 84.2% for the State of Georgia. Only 7% hold post-secondary degrees.

  • The median household income is nearly 40% lower than the that of the State$30,846 vs. $49,179; and the per capita income is 50% lower than the State $12,685 vs. $25,182.

  • 36.6% of Forest Park residents live below poverty.

  • 49.4% of female-headed households live below the poverty level.

  • 51.4% of children under 18 live below poverty.

  • 61% of children under 5 live below poverty.
